Shoelaces
Shoelaces are thin cords fitted to shoes used to fasten the shoe to the wearers foot. Shoelaces are easy to adjust and so help secure shoes to various shapes and sizes of feet. They are weaved through eyelets with the shoe upper and tied with a bow at the top. Surprisingly, shoelaces only became very popular in the 20th century. Previously, most shoes were buckled, buttoned, or slip-on.
